Still Haven't Booked Your Next Trip? Here's Where to Go Before 2026 Ends
It's July. Half the year is gone, and if you're anything like most people, you've been meaning to book something since January. Good news: the second half of the year is actually the smarter time to travel. Prices ease off, crowds thin out, and you get to plan around what you actually want instead of what's left over from everyone else's summer.
Below are four trips worth putting on the calendar right now, with real numbers. Flight costs from India, total trip budgets per person, sample itineraries, and the best way to get around once you land. No rounding up to make a point, no rounding down to sell a package.
Destination | Best Months | Return Flight (per person) | Trip Cost (per person) | Ideal Trip Length |
Morocco | Sept – Nov | ₹32,000 – 55,000 | ₹70,000 – 1,50,000 | 7 days |
Europe (Italy) | Sept – Oct | ₹45,000 – 75,000 | ₹1,30,000 – 2,20,000 | 9–10 days |
Maldives | May – Jul, Sept – Nov | ₹15,000 – 30,000 | ₹55,000 – 1,50,000 | 4–5 days |
Bali | Apr – Jun, Sept – Oct | ₹22,000 – 40,000 | ₹70,000 – 1,50,000 | 6–7 days |
Figures above are return economy flights and total per-person trip costs for a mid-range traveller, based on 2026 pricing. Your actual numbers will move with season, departure city, and how far ahead you book.

Quick Index:
Morocco: Big Experience, Small Budget
Morocco is one of the last places within reach of Europe (It's in Africa) where your money still goes a long way. There are no direct flights from India, so expect one layover, usually in Dubai, Istanbul, or Doha. Flight time works out to roughly 13 to 17 hours door to door depending on the layover.

Getting There & Visa
Return flights: ₹32,000 – 55,000 from Delhi or Mumbai, cheaper via Istanbul or Dubai layovers
Flight time: 13–17 hours including one layover
Visa: e-Visa required, costs about $20, approval typically within 72 hours
Book 6–8 weeks ahead for the best fares
Sample 7-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Land in Casablanca, train to Marrakech, check into a riad, explore Jemaa el-Fnaa
Day 2: Marrakech medina, Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Madrasa, souks
Day 3–5: Sahara Desert tour via Atlas Mountains, Dades Valley, and Ait Benhaddou (Ouarzazate), camel trek and overnight desert camp in Merzouga
Day 6: Return to Marrakech, or continue on to Fes
Day 7: Fes medina, tanneries, fly out from Fes or Casablanca

Getting Around & Type of Trip
Casablanca to Marrakech and Marrakech to Fes are both easy by train on Morocco's ONCF rail line. The desert loop through the Atlas Mountains, Dades Valley, and Merzouga is best done by organized tour or hired driver, since public transport doesn't reliably cover those routes and the mountain roads reward a guide who knows them. This is an adventure-and-culture trip, moderately active, with real variety: cities, mountains, desert, and coast all within one loop.
Total Cost
• Budget (hostels, shared transport): ₹70,000 – 90,000 per person
• Mid-range (riads, small-group desert tour): ₹1,20,000 – 1,50,000 per person
• This includes flights, e-visa, 6 nights' accommodation, food, and the desert tour
Europe: Catch the Shoulder Season Before It Closes
September and October are the best months to do Europe, full stop. The summer crush is over, flight and hotel prices drop noticeably, and cities that feel unbearable in July become walkable again. Using Italy as the flagship route, since it has the best train network to move between cities without renting a car. Getting There & Visa
• Return flights to Rome or Milan: ₹45,000 – 75,000 from Delhi or Mumbai during shoulder season
• Flight time: 8–10 hours, non-stop options available from Delhi
• Schengen visa: about ₹9,000 – 12,000 total including service charges, apply at least 6 weeks ahead
• Peak summer (June–August) and December add 20–40% to both flights and hotels
Sample 9-Day Itinerary (Rome, Florence, Venice)
Day 1–3: Rome: Colosseum, Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica, Trastevere in the evenings
Day 4–6: Florence: Duomo, Uffizi Gallery, day trip into Tuscany's wine country
Day 7–8: Venice: St. Mark's Square, a vaporetto ride down the Grand Canal, get lost in the side streets
Day 9: Fly out from Venice (Marco Polo) rather than backtracking to Rome, open-jaw tickets often cost the same as a return
Getting Around & Type of Trip
Trains are the only way to do this properly. Rome to Florence is about 1.5 hours, Florence to Venice about 2 hours, both on Trenitalia or Italo's high-speed lines. Booking 60 to 90 days ahead can cut fares by up to half. This is a city-hopping, walkable trip with moderate pacing, built for people who want architecture, food, and art without a rental car.
Total Cost
• Budget (hostels, regional trains): ₹1,20,000 – 1,40,000 per person
• Mid-range (3-star hotels, high-speed trains): ₹1,60,000 – 2,20,000 per person
• This includes flights, visa, 8 nights' accommodation, trains between cities, food, and major sightseeing tickets. Also read our city blogs for Italy: 10 Days in Italy: A Smart, Comfortable & Exploratory Itinerary
Maldives: Book the Actual Reset
The Maldives works if total stillness is the goal. It's also one of the most Indian-traveller-friendly destinations there is: short flights, no visa hassle, and a genuinely wide range of budgets once you understand the local-island-versus-resort split. Getting There & Visa
• Return flights to Male: ₹15,000 – 30,000 from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, or Kochi
• Flight time: 2–5 hours depending on departure city, Kochi and Bengaluru are shortest
• Visa: free 30-day visa on arrival for Indian passport holders, no application needed
• Book 6–8 weeks ahead; June to October is generally the cheapest window
Local Island vs Resort: What Changes the Price
• Local island guesthouse (Maafushi, Thulusdhoo, Dhigurah): reached by public ferry or speedboat, ₹3,000 – 6,000 per night, total trip ₹55,000 – 90,000 for 4–5 days
•Mid-range resort with beach villa: speedboat transfer, ₹1,00,000 – 1,50,000 for 4–5 days
•Luxury overwater villa: seaplane transfer alone can run ₹15,000 – 25,000 one way, total trip ₹2,50,000 – 4,00,000+
•A split stay, a few nights on a local island plus one or two at a resort, is the best way to get variety without paying resort rates the whole trip.
Getting Around & Type of Trip
Once you've picked local island or resort, there isn't much to plan. Local islands use ferries or speedboats; resort islands arrange their own transfers. This is a zero-itinerary trip: one island, snorkelling, sandbank visits, and doing nothing well.
Bali: Stillness With a Bit More Texture
Bali is the answer if the Maldives feels like too little to do. Same reset energy, but with rice terraces, beach towns, and a culture that gives the trip some shape beyond the beach.

Getting There & Visa
• Return flights to Denpasar: ₹22,000 – 40,000 from Delhi, Mumbai, or Chennai
• Air India runs a direct Delhi–Bali flight (about 7.5 hours); otherwise expect one layover via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur
•Visa on arrival: about ₹2,700 (IDR 500,000), plus a mandatory tourist levy of about ₹800, payable online before you land
•Book 3–4 months ahead; April–June and September–October are the sweet spot for weather and price
Sample 6-Day Itinerary
•Day 1: Arrive, check in at Seminyak or Kuta, sunset at Jimbaran Bay
•Day 2: Uluwatu Temple and the Kecak fire dance in the evening
•Day 3–4: Move base to Ubud, Tegalalang Rice Terrace, Campuhan Ridge Walk, Monkey Forest
•Day 5: Day trip to Nusa Penida for Kelingking Beach and Broken Beach
•Day 6: Ubud Art Market, departure
Getting Around & Type of Trip
There's no public transport network connecting Bali's towns, so a private driver for the day (about ₹2,500 – 4,500) or Grab for shorter hops is standard. Confident riders rent scooters. This is a mixed trip: beach relaxation in the south, culture and nature in Ubud, one adventurous day trip to Nusa Penida. Splitting your stay between two bases (usually Seminyak or Canggu plus Ubud) works better than trying to cover five towns in a week.
Total Cost
•Budget (homestays, warungs): ₹65,000 – 80,000 per person
•Mid-range (boutique hotels, private driver): ₹90,000 – 1,50,000 per person
•This includes flights, visa and tourist levy, 5 nights' accommodation, food, transport, and the Nusa Penida day trip
Which One Fits Your Year
• Tight on both time and budget: Morocco or Bali, both work well as a single week off
• Want the classic Europe trip without a car: Italy, book shoulder season and go by train
• Need to switch off completely: Maldives, especially if you go local-island-first
• Want beach plus culture in one trip: Bali
None of these need months of lead time. Morocco and Europe are both bookable 6 to 8 weeks out without paying a premium. Maldives and Bali mostly need a decision, not a spreadsheet. You've got six months left. Pick one. Happy travels!
